Tow Away Zone
Apparently, I live in a tow-away zone. Now it's no secret that I am emphatically opposed to Fascist parking regulations and disagree with towing unless the illegal parking is in some way unsafe (blocking traffic or similar). Little did I know the cruelties of my own apartment complex until last weekend. On Saturday evening, friends of ours came by and picked us up to go to a movie. When we returned at 10:00pm, they drove into the gated parking lot of our complex and parked in one of MANY open spaces while they came up to the apartment to chat for a bit. Less than an hour later when they decided to leave, they found that their car had unfortunately been towed.
After verbally intimidating our adolescent female security guard, who refused to give me her name (I feel safe); I called the security company and chewed out the supervisor, who also refused to give me her name. Finally, we headed out to our friendly tow yard to pick up our friend's car, where we had to stand in a dark doorway that smelled like an ashtray for 15 minutes while a toothless woman smacked her gum and chatted on the phone.
So after carefully examining the parking policy, we have determined that they do not expect us to have visitors here. There are 13 guest parking spaces and approximately 300 apartments. Surely that's enough...right?
Didn't you know that you moved into the "Loners Club" complex?
And besides, those parking spaces are reserved for moms-who-unexpectedly-show-up-with-food only.

Let's see, 13 divded by 300 is .04...so every person who lives there is allowed 4 hundreths of a vistor. I think that is definitely plenty.

At my old place, which was just a two building rental deal, no complex or anything... there were 12 units and 11 parking spaces. Plus it was right near the parking lot for the Uni nearby so random students would park there too, even though it says private parking. I yelled at people from time to time.. that was fun.

Too bad there wasn't a top-notch graphic artist in the house to produce fake parking badges for your guests. Oh wait....
And yes, deviance does have its privileges.
